How to Fix FPS Drops When Using Cheats
Check if the game stutters or only ESP lags
Start with a wall or doorway you can keep in view. If the whole scene hitches and the FPS drops, compare a run with your SurchCheats product open and a run with it closed. If the scenery moves smoothly while an ESP box trails the player, check the drawing first.
An ESP box lags while the scenery moves normally
Keep a player and a fixed edge, such as a fence post, in view. If the player passes the post smoothly and the outline reaches it late, follow the outline until the player stops. FPS drops make the scene hitch too. Watch the post as you turn to see which result you have.
When the box catches up to a stationary player, save a clip through that catch-up. If the drawing vanishes, leave the player in frame until it returns. That gives you two distinct clips to look for, one where the box keeps drawing late and one where it disappears.
Compare FPS on the same part of the map
Pick one movement where you saw FPS drops. A turn out of the same doorway works better than two runs across different parts of the map. Start in the same spot and turn towards the same point. Keep resolution, window mode and graphics settings the same for both runs.
Use the first screen that hitches. If FPS drops with the game open on its own in the main menu, you already have a game-only example. If the menu stays smooth but the game hitches as soon as you start to move, run both tests from that point in the match.
FPS drops when you open the cheat menu
Leave the camera still and read the counter with the cheat menu closed. Open the menu, watch the reading for a few seconds, then close it. If FPS drops briefly and recovers while the menu is still open, you have a dip on opening. If it only recovers after closing, you have a slowdown that lasts while the menu is visible.
If FPS drops only while you move a slider or scroll a long menu, try that action once and then take your hand off the mouse. Leave the menu open. This separates a hitch while you use a control from a low reading that continues while the menu sits idle.
A single hitch looks different from sustained low FPS
For brief FPS drops, write down the reading before the hitch and the one after it. If you missed the number in the middle, keep the visible hitch in your notes. For a sustained slowdown, give the range you saw and how long it stayed there. You can report either result without guessing a number you did not see.
Steam’s performance monitor guide explains why a slow frame can be visible even when the average looks steady. If your monitor shows a minimum, check it at the point where the FPS drops. Pair the number with the action on screen, such as the moment you opened the cheat menu.
Use the same FPS measurement on both runs
Steam’s FPS graph shows the most recent 90 seconds, with one-second averages and separate markers for some low minimum readings. Open the graph soon after the FPS drops. If there were two hitches, note what you were doing at each one, such as opening the cheat menu or turning the camera.
Steam can show game FPS separately from a display rate that includes generated frames. Use the game FPS value on both runs and keep frame generation set the same way. If the display rate stays high while game FPS drops, record both values and label them so support can tell which number is which.
The FPS counter and the cheat are both open
If FPS drops began when you opened a second overlay, repeat the same camera turn with that extra overlay closed and the cheat still open. Watch whether the scene hitches at the same point. Leave the game and cheat settings alone so you can tell which window changed the result.
Use a counter built into the game if one is already available. That gives you a reading during both turns. If closing the extra overlay removes your only counter, compare the visible stutter instead. Keep it separate from a measured change in frame rate when you describe the result.
Where to get help with your cheat
Send SurchCheats support your order reference, product name, Windows version and the action that brings on the FPS drops. Include the game-only and cheat-open readings if you have both. If you send a clip, start a few seconds before the hitch and keep keys or order details out of the image.
